Street shaken by four house raids – as victims sleep upstairs
FOUR homes in the same street were struck by burglars who made off with handbags, cash and pricey electrical goods, say police.
Each of the burglaries – two in the early hours of Saturday and another two in the early hours of Sunday – took place in Foulston Avenue, Barne Barton, while the owners were asleep upstairs.
Investigators say the crooks used the same form of entry, breaking through windows, to gain access between 2am and 7am each night.
Once inside they silently collected handbags, cash and other valuables before making off. In one property the thieves used the homeowners' tools to remove a 40inch Samsung TV from a wall, while in another they took a wristwatch which had sentimental value.

"The watch belonged to the victim's deceased father," a police spokesman said. "The victim is devastated." Police later found many of the items discarded nearby, along with assorted bank cards.
"It appears they sifted through the goods they stole in their sweep of the homes and kept the cash and jewellery," the force spokesman added.
