PLANS for an annual art festival in Ivybridge are under way.

The Watermark Summer Arts Festival will feature workshops, demonstrations, talks, exhibitions and performances from across the arts.

The theme of this year's popular festival will be water.

The idea has been developed by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers from the arts community in the town, Ivybridge Library and Ivybridge Town Council.

A spokesman for the group said: "These will be free, nominal cost or ticketed events. "Any surplus after costs will be used to support the organisations taking part or used for future events."

It's hoped local businesses in Ivybridge will support the event, which is happening in July.

The spokesman continued: "We want to see a range of events that appeal to all ages and sections of the community.

"We aim to have as many of the arts as possible in the town represented including music of all genres, written and spoken word, theatre, painting and drawing, sculpture, film and crafts."
