Surf's up at City Museum
VISITORS to City Museum have designed surfboards as part of an exhibition, writes Madeleine Holmes.
Museum-goers have been able to demonstrate their artist talents at the Endless Summer exhibition, drawing designs onto surfboards.
There are also many surfboards from private collectors and the Museum of British Surfing, and a surf photography competition in partnership with Magic Seaweed surf website.
Rob Longworth, Education Officer at Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery, said: "The Evolution of Surfing shows the development of surfing, boards, design, science and art all themed around the explosive sport of surfing."

“Why on earth would anyone want to be a collector of surf boards? You would need a very big house for a start, and even if you did it would just end up full of loads of surf boards so you would never get the benefit of having a nice big house. Who would actually be interested in seeing a person's surf board collection? Are there any private collectors of surf boards out there who can enlighten me as to this unusual, and dare I say, completely pointless hobby?”
