Survey will assess asbestos suffering
THIS is a time of joy and festivities for people throughout the UK. However, for people with the asbestos-related chest cancer mesothelioma, the winter months continue to be a very difficult time.
Plymouth has been identified as one of the top 10 hotspots for mesothelioma in the UK. The British Lung Foundation wants to ensure that people with mesothelioma in the Plymouth area get the best possible treatment and care available. We also want to guarantee that they and their families receive all the support and information that they need.
We have therefore launched a survey for people in the UK who have been affected by mesothelioma, which will allow them to tell us about their emotions, their needs and their experience of healthcare provision.
I would be most grateful if you would let your readers know about this survey so that mesothelioma patients and their families living in Plymouth can share their experiences with us. Completing this survey will only take 10 minutes and it will really help to inform national understanding of the needs of people with mesothelioma. This survey can be completed online by going to www.lunguk.org/mesosurvey. Alternatively, you can request a paper copy be sent to your home address by telephoning 0207 688 5563.
If you have been affected by mesothelioma and would like support or advice then you can contact the British Lung Foundation's helpline on 08458 50 50 20 or the Mesothelioma UK helpline on 0800 169 2409.
