Thieves raid Plymouth church stealing and causing damage
THIEVES have left a trail of destruction after smashing their way into a Plymouth church and making off with candlesticks and cash from donation boxes.
Police say a window was smashed at St Francis Church on Little Dock Lane, Honicknowle between 5.45am and 7.45pm yesterday, Thursday,
Thieves then took eight brass and silver candlesticks along with cash from donation boxes.
During the burglary, candles and religious artefacts were strewn across the chapel and altar.

DC Jason Bryant said: “This was a very upsetting crime not only for the church but for the whole community.
“The donation boxes were crudely broken into and those who discovered the crime were confronted by very distressing scenes.
“I would appeal directly to those responsible to give up the stolen items in order that we can re-unite them with the church.
“I would also ask local second-hand shops, antique dealers and scrap metal businesses to help us if they are offered the candle holders.”
