WE ALL need to be able to handle rejection and keep our options open when it comes to not getting the job.

Don't give up! There are lots of people applying for jobs at the moment, more than likely someone else just had slightly more relevant experience and you could be the next person to be successful.

If you are receiving this rejection by a telephone call, make sure you ask politely why you were not selected and then work on this feedback.

During the rejection phone call, again thank the interviewer for considering you and perhaps ask if they are likely to be advertising again in the near future or if they would consider you later if it does not work out with the person they have appointed.

If you are rejected on the grounds of experience, you could ask if you may join the company for a work placement to gain that experience – this shows willingness and determination.

Make sure you keep your application and your preparation in your job hunting file. You know the application got you an interview so it can be used to help you with the next application.

“"Don't give up!" Thanks for that fatuous advice.

In case you hadn't noticed, giving up is swiftly rewarded by a drastic cut in benefits.”
