Tom Merson and Emma Stepto set records in Plymouth Hoe 10 wins
BOTH men's and women's course records were smashed at this year's Hoe 10.
Devon's Tom Merson, who competes for Bristol and West AC, stormed to victory in the 10-mile race in a time of 52 minutes and three seconds.
Second was Tavistock's Jim Cole, who finished in a time of 53:11.
That was just four seconds ahead of Bideford's Mark Jenkin.

The Hoe 10 incorporates the Peninsula Challenge, which sees Devon's top runners go head to head with Cornwall.
Devon easily won the men's race as they had the first four runners home, with Barnstaple's Shaun Antell finishing fourth.
And Devon's women also claimed victory over Cornwall, despite a storming display by Duchy veteran Emma Stepto.
Reigning champion Stepto broke her own course record to finish in a time of 57:21.
She was more than three minutes ahead of Lucy Commander, who came second in 1.00:42.
Plymouth Harriers' Ami Yetton was third lady home in 1.01:11.
Organiser Paul Ross said: "We have the Peninsula Challenge between Devon and Cornwall so that always lends to having a good front end race for the Hoe 10.
"It was the third year of running this course and both the men's and the women's course records went.
"Emma (Stepto) has won the race for the last four years but each time she has got faster."
The race had the maximum number of entries – 650 – with 556 runners finishing the 10-mile course that took runners around Devonport, Stonehouse and the Hoe.
"We had a good field," said Ross. We had good weather, which always helps, the marshals were brilliant and all the feedback we have received has been very positive, which is a big plus for the Armada Network."
He added: "We always try to learn year after year and listen to what runners say.
"We will have a meeting next month to go through the good and bad things so that we can take the event forward even more."
