FA CUP PRELIMINARY ROUND REPLAY Odd Down...0 Torpoint Athletic...1

TORPOINT'S answer to the cynics who thought they had missed their first chance in Saturday's 1-1 draw at The Mill were given the perfect riposte by Stuart Dudley's talented side.

The Tamarsiders claimed the prize of a plum home tie with Zamaretto Southern League outfit Clevedon Town, £1,500 as preliminary round winners and the chance to add another £3,000 in the next round.

"I'm absolutely delighted as this was a real team effort with everybody working hard," said a delighted Torpoint boss Dudley.

He added: "Thankfully, the players got their reward with a well deserved win and a place in the next round."

Torpoint fully deserved their victory, although both sides created chances with the visitors showing first when Adam Carter hit the post.

Ricky Allen fired just wide from 25 yards before Josh Grant and Carter both saw efforts fly over the home bar.

When Odd Down tried to hit back, they found Torpoint goalkeeper Martin Piper in good form with a very safe pair of hands.

Torpoint had the best chance to open the scoring on 68 minutes when Carter burst into the home area only to be sent tumbling. However, Hicks could only fire the penalty over the bar.

But with the game in the third minute of stoppage time, Liam Thornton's drive cross caused panic in the home area and Grant gave the travelling band of Torpoint supporters the opportunity to go wild by forcing the winner over the line.

CSWPL PREMIER DIVISON Elburton Villa...2 Tavistock...1

TAVISTOCK manager Ian Southcott was scathing of his team's performance after watching them throw away an early lead at Haye Road.

"Even though we were missing several players, there are no excuses for our second half display which was our worst 45 minutes of the season," fumed Southcott.

Villa manager Scott Bamford, however, was obviously delighted as his team took their unbeaten run to four games.

It was especially pleasing as seven goal top scorer Paul Baker missed the game due to work commitments.

Bamford said: "We were superb in the second half.

"Other managers have been quoted as saying we are relegation material, but my players have answered their critics so far with this impressive run."

The Lambs took just eight minutes to open the scoring. Marc Conday, who looked to be in on goal, was sent tumbling and Martyn Sullivan exacted full revenge by curling his free-kick low into the far corner of the home goal.

Tavistock almost fashioned a second goal when Chris Head raced clear but his fierce drive brought a fine save out of Villa 'keeper Simon May.

But the home side shook their visitors, levelling on 17 minutes. A cross was headed back into the danger area by Kevin Yetton and Chris Maskell headed home from close range.

Tavistock fought back as Sullivan sent another free-kick over the bar before the winger's cross found Conday whose downward header May saved at the foot of his post.

Head then fired Conday's cross wide at the far post before Villa responded with Maskell's first time shot that flew across the face of the visitors' goal.

The second half was not a great affair but Villa fans will not be complaining as their team grabbed an all-important second goal nine minutes from time.

Jake Evans fed the ball to Maskell who was crudely bundled over by Ahearn's rash challenge. Josh Fenwick, with regular penalty taker Baker absent, kept his cool and lashed the spot-kick into the roof of the net.

ECL PREMIER DIVISION Plymouth Parkway...3 St Stephens Borough...0

THE scoreline at Bolitho Park was rough justice on new boys Borough, who were better than a three-goal margin of defeat suggests.

Credit must go to Parkway who showed their resilience by scoring three late goals.

"We did just enough to win the game but perhaps 1-0 would have been fairer on St Stephens," admitted Parkway's Kevin Adams.

Dan Worth opened the home side's account on 85 minutes with Kirk Smith adding a second five minutes later. Lewis Young completed the scoring two minutes into stoppage time.

DIVISION ONE Millbrook...3 Edgcumbe...0

IT WAS the landlords who came out on top of the Mill Park derby thanks to a hat-trick from Harry Hook.

Hook was on target for Millbrook in the 30th, 65th and 80th minutes.
