IF YOU like your jazz strictly traditional, the Matchroom Suite in Plympton is the place to be on Sunday, when some of Wales' finest arrive to blow their own trumpets... clarinets, cornets, saxes, trombones...

The Liberty Street band has been a hit since forming back in 1993, with appearances in St David's Hall, Cardiff and on BBC Wales.

They are a regular attraction on the New Orleans Riverboat at Henley-on-Thames.

With a line-up consisting of Marcus on trumpet, flugelhorn and cornet, Dr John on clarinet and saxes, Simon on trombone, Dewi on banjo and Graham on drums, they created a bit of a stir on their first visit to Bude Jazz Festival, being hailed by the town's major as "best band at the BJC for a very long time".

Tickets to see the Liberty Street Band play the Matchroom Suite can be purchased on the door on the night and cost £8 for visitors and £6 for members. For more information visit the website www.plymouth-jazz-club.org.uk or call 01752 774343.
