Traffic fumes as bad as plane emissions
REFERENCE the Green Party and its green alternative.
Regardless of the so-called airport green issues, this is something Plymouth really needs in its efforts to expand business and increase jobs in this area.
As for emissions from aircraft, well I'm sure there would be more than enough from cars, buses, etc., that would be used around there if the building programme goes ahead. Houses, shops, etc. Traffic is bad enough as it is.
As for going green, I consider the use of wind turbines a blot on any landscape and let's face it, only work/produce part time. These will also fail in high winds. Now these are a big issue to my mind and need a rethink.

“The government is slowly turning its back on wind farms. I gather they are already reducing subsidies for some alternative energy sources in favour of gas-powered generation.
Wind farms are not proving themselves to be as efficient as first thought and, because of their technology and location aren't particularly environmentally friendly. The promises of the designers and builders of these things have fallen short. But they have made a quick buck from our ever increasing energy bills.
That manmade CO2 emissions are causing global climate change is still in doubt but has been a good vehicle for profit by those quick enough to bamboozle the government. The government can't lose, can they? For every new industry there is another tax revenue which all comes from our pockets.
This all may sound cynical but current politics encourages this degree of mistrust amongst its citizens. Profit and prestige appear to be the only requirements of businesses and academics; the truth secondary.”

“Good points BJ - the Greens always attack flying but cruise ships, cars with 1 or 2 people and virtually empty trains are far bigger polluters per passenger mile than a reasonably full plane. The worst offenders are super yachts.”
