PLYMOUTH YMCA is encouraging city residents to join its board of trustees.

As part of National Trustees' Week 2012, Plymouth YMCA is looking for more support in transforming the lives of young people in the community.

Carol Belton, chief executive of Plymouth YMCA, said: "Without the unwavering support and dedication of our trustees we simply wouldn't be able to carry out the life changing work that we do in Plymouth.

"In order to continue with our journey we need people to come forward and support us."

Trustees oversee the strategy, policy and direction of the YMCA and contribute their specialist skills to guide organisational decision making.

Robert Mills, chair of Plymouth YMCA, said: "In Trustees' Week we can take a moment to acknowledge the fantastic contribution made by fellow trustees.

"I have seen Plymouth YMCA go from strength to strength in recent years.

"Thanks to our trustees past and present the YMCA has been able to grow, adapt and position itself as a valuable part of the community.

"We're now at an exciting time in our development and I really do hope that we can encourage new people to join the board so that we can continue our work into the future."

The YMCA has been active in Plymouth since 1848 and aims to support young people through education, training and recreation.
