AS part of its Get Moving campaign, HomeSeeker hosted its first Twitter property event last Wednesday, with the first tweet kicking off the event and reaching over 33,000 people.

Using the hashtag #plymgetmoving, estate agents and HomeSeeker tweeted over 40 properties during the half-hour event.

Hennings Moir took part and were stunned at the response. Steve Moir said: "I was sceptical about using Twitter but the properties we tweeted had on average six times as many buyers look at the details online than properties that were not tweeted – amazing!

"Clearly the promotion of the campaign by the HomeSeeker combined with properties tweeted by the proactive agents involved was a huge success and shows the agents need to embrace all types of technology to reach as many buyers as possible. Hennings Moir will certainly be taking part in any future campaigns."

Hennings Moir uses cloud-based computer software so Twitter is built into that, making the job just a click of a button. You can follow Hennings Moir @henningsmoir and see properties tweeted through the HomeSeeker at #plymgetmoving.

HomeSeeker editor Gillian Adams said: "A recent survey showed people in Plymouth are going online as well as reading HomeSeeker at the start of their house hunting*, so I wanted to use Twitter to create a platform of communication between buyers and estate agents."

"It was fantastic to see such a variety of homes for sale and rent being tweeted and then retweeted by Twitter followers. The hashtag #plymgetmoving reached thousands of people and I hope they will continue to use it for their property search and to view market news during the Get Moving campaign."

* Respondents started their property search using online (44%) and HomeSeeker (32%). SWMG HomeSeeker research, January 2013.
