Unconscious biker flown to hospital
A MOTORCYCLIST was flown to hospital by air ambulance following a collision with a car just outside Plymouth.
A Dartmoor road had to be closed for nearly three hours following the smash near Mary Tavy on Sunday morning.
There were fears for the biker, a 54-year-old British man now living in France, after his BMW was involved in a crash with a white Renault Megane.
The Devon Air Ambulance was called after the rider lost consciousness following the smash on the A386 between Mary Tavy and the Willsworthy junction at around 11.25am.
Police were forced to close the road while emergency services worked at the scene, including a forensic examination by the roads policing unit.
The injured man suffered a broken thumb and an injured wrist, a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said.
He was kept in Derriford Hospital overnight for observation but was expected to be sent home yesterday.
The road was re-opened by traffic police at around 2.45pm. No arrests were made, but any witnesses are being asked to call police on 08452 777444 quoting log number 537 of September 12.
