Universities fight over Tom Daley as end of A level approaches
Plymouth University is going head to head with Exeter University in a bid to woo Olympic dive star Tom Daley to undertake a degree when he finished his A Levels.
Both local universities are understood to have made the Plymouth 18-year-old offers to start degree courses after Tom completes his courses at Plymouth College this summer.

Plymouth is currently investing £4million in a new diver training centre – which could prove attractive to Tom, who is currently starring on ITV’s Splash! on a Saturday night attracting 6.2million viewers.
And while Exeter does not specialise in similar sports degrees, it is a prestigious venue and Tom may be tempted to study media.
2 courses £9.95 or 3 courses £12.95 available lunch time Tuesday to Sunday and Monday to Sunday evenings 5-7pm.
Contact: 01752 421903
Valid until: Monday, September 30 2013
Tom is understood to have not yet decided whether to accept either offer – or several other offers made by universities in other parts of the country.
The Plymouth teenager is currently deciding whether to go straight on to university, take a year out or not continue his education.
Whatever he decides, a degree would have to be part-time to fit in with Tom’s intensive dive training as he prepares for future competition – including the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Tom is currently studying subjects at A Level including Spanish.

“@the wholetruth ... thanks didnt know that . At least its something positive ,rather than young screaming girls and orange boys ( and journalists from the Herald) chasing the latest fad after ankle socks and padded shoulders from the 80s and being paid by stupidly PC council funds in their efforts to be seen as hip .”

“Which to me and countless others ( who have nothing personal against Tom) wonder why the Herald doesnt do more for us by highlighting the wrongs of money spent .... rather than waste its space on this X factor kind of rubbish on a daly basis (pun intended).
They are also part of the gullible sucked in mugs happily clapping like idiots while a few individuals are going head first into a health and safety approved swimming pool for god sakes .”

“"Plymouth is currently investing £4million in a new diver training centre" ... didnt know about that . What else have they sold rather than look after old folk etc just to dive into water ?
And if its part of the sell off of citybus then its still a show of the priority they seem to have .
I am willing to be corrected .”

“Well said stevestrange. Really hate the selfish arrogant attitude of most of this generation. Maybe they could learn a bit of humility and tolerance from people like Tom rater them walking around thinking they are some kind of smart **** who the world revolves around.”
