PAUL Wyatt is just one of countless victims of predatory Plymouth paedophile William Goad.

Dubbed 'Britain's worst paedophile', Goad is believed to have abused as many as 3,500 boys.

The former city businessman died behind bars in October last year, aged 68.

Wyatt has previously told his shocking story to The Herald – and became one of the founding members of the Plymouth support group Operation Emotion.

Defence solicitor Antony Daniel yesterday told the court of the extent of Goad's impact on his client.

"I am aware of the degree of which he suffered, which was massive and persistent over a period of time," Mr Daniel said.

"In these circumstances very often people who are in that situation have families to support them through the trauma and after – but the most prolific paedophile infiltrated his family.

"He did that by lending his [Wyatt's] parents money when his father had lost his job.

"He infiltrated his family and had access to him without his parents knowing anything.

"He did not have support from his family and does not have any contact with them today.

"That has had an effect of his life massively.

"He has kept out of trouble for eight years and that is to his credit. He has done an awful lot of good.

"He has given up his time which has taken its toll on him.

"He needs to get his head straight and go back with the mental health team before sitting down with victims to help them with their issues."
