“Her car was her way of transport and getting out and about, now she is worried she will be confined to her home.
“The Motability company are reluctant to provide another car because of the risk and this car was her lifeline.”
Crews from Crownhill fire station attended the scene and extinguished the fire using one hose jet reel and two breathing apparatus.
The vehicle was severely damaged and a nearby car was also damaged by heat.
The cause of the fire, which started at about 12.30am on Sunday, is under investigation by Devon and Somerset Fire Service and Devon and Cornwall Police.
DC Bryant said two men were seen to approach the car, one covered it in petrol and the second suspect lit an object and threw it at the car, causing it to ignite.
The first suspect is described as a white man of chunky build with a round belly, wearing a dark tracksuit with a baseball cap underneath the hood of the tracksuit.
The second suspect is described as a white male, of slim build with a black hood over his head and a matching tracksuit top and bottoms.
