A MOTHER-of-two who has lost two stone in the last five months is now attempting to change her diet to drop three dress sizes.

Forty-two-year-old Verena Love, from Ernesettle, admits to being a "naughty comfort eater" and has decided to join Team loveLIFE in a bid to put her bad eating habits to bed once and for all.

Verena, a full-time carer, weighed 18-and-a-half-stone last August but has since dropped to 16-and-a-half-stone by exercising more.

She said: "I've put a lot of weight on over the last seven years and it's affecting my health. I suffer from seizures, which aren't helped by the excess weight, and I also have a bad back.

"I've been exercising a lot since August and lost two stone but I want to get down to a size 16 from my current size 22 and have decided the only way to do that is to improve my diet.

"The loveLIFE campaign caught my eye and I thought sharing my story in the paper would give me even more of an incentive to reach my goal.

"My children think I'm a bit mad for doing it this way but they are fully supportive of me."

Verena, who has already started thinking of ways to cut down on the amount she eats by buying smaller plates, admits to overeating.

She said: "I do like my carbohydrates like pasta and potatoes. They are my comfort foods and I know I eat them to excess. I'm a naughty comfort eater and if I'm feeling a bit low I'll instantly reach for the crisps and the chocolate bars. I also love Chinese takeaways, cheese and white bread.

"I like to call myself a grazer because I could graze all day."

But Verena has now decided to make a few small changes to her diet which will hopefully help her shed the pounds.

She said: "I'm going to look at changing my bread from white to wholemeal, buying the lighter version of my favourite crisps, taking just one square of chocolate to work with me rather than two chocolate bars, and I'm also going to start weighing my foods so I don't over-eat on things like pasta and rice."
