A VILLAGE hall in South East Cornwall has received a much-needed makeover courtesy of a paint company.

Calstock residents have been using the hall for many activities including bowls, pilates, and coffee mornings since it was built in 1989, and it is also home to a playgroup, a youth club and a twice-a-week post office.

The hall on the banks of the Tamar is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. But last decorated outside 12 years ago in dark maroon, it was in desperate need of a facelift.

Local people voted to repaint it bright blue, and over several weeks a team of volunteers set to work.

The makeover was completed as part of Dulux Colour Centres' Colouring The Community scheme after committee member Chrissy Wallis contacted Dulux in Regent Street, Plymouth.

Chrissy said: "Our village hall is seen by hundreds of people every day. It is often used for wedding receptions, and the first bride and groom to use the function room were thrilled with how much fresher the hall looked for their photographs."
