Vision scheme on £3m grant shortlist
A DEVONPORT development has been shortlisted for a grant of nearly £3million designed to get the housing market moving.
The Redrow Vision is in line for a £2,932,173 KickStart boost from the Government.
The Ker Street scheme in Devonport has already had a grant in a previous round of KickStart funding.
"This is good news for the City," said Linda Gilroy, MP for Plymouth Sutton.
"Not only will it mean a key affordable housing scheme gets back on track, but part of the deal means that Redrow must provide schemes for local labour and apprenticeships.
"So not only do we get the housing we need, but this will help our local economy and see our young people better trained for the future."
Half of the funding must be repaid to Government, but it will give developers the cash they need to get sites back up and running.
There will now be a rigorous final check to see who receives the final go-ahead by the Homes and Communities Agency.
In all nationally 22,500 houses will be built as a result of Government investment.
