Ward could be confirmed in post this week
JOHN WARD remains the firm favourite to take over as Argyle's new director of football.
Herald Sport understands the 61-year-old former Colchester United manager had commitments elsewhere at the end of last week, which has delayed his appointment.

Ward was one of three candidates interviewed by the Pilgrims last weekend.
There has been no official confirmation from Argyle whom they have been in contract talks with about the role of director of football.

But multiple sources believe it is Ward (right), who has vast managerial experience.
Pilgrims' boss Carl Fletcher was asked by Herald Sport on Saturday whether the appointment would be announced this week and replied: "Possibly".
Pressed on the topic, Fletcher added: "It seems to be more of a big deal outside the club than inside, which is usually the case with football.
"I think with all clubs in the country, the media make a lot of things but when you are actually inside the club it's business as usual.
"We are just getting on with trying to play well and get results."
