TOM Daley said he was "super excited" about the homecoming parade planned for Plymouth's Olympic athletes.

The city's other Olympic stars also predicted Wednesday's spectacle would outdo the huge victory show in London earlier this week – and have urged city people to turn out.

An open-top bus parade, beginning at Plymouth College at 5.15pm, will arrive outside the Guildhall for a 6pm public reception.

Bronze-medal winning diver Tom and his Plymouth College schoolmate Ruta Meilutyte, who stormed to a swimming gold for her home country of Lithuania, will be among those on board.

Tom said: "It's going to be awesome and I would encourage anyone to come along and join in. If it's anything like the reception we got last time it will be just incredible."

Swimmers Anthony James, Jamila Lunkuse and Jade Howard will be on the victory bus, along with divers Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow, fencer Corinna Lawrence, wheelchair basketball player, Judith Hamer and Paralympic table tennis star, David Wetherill.

"The more people there to welcome us the better," Antony said.

"It's a great occasion for all the Plymouth Olympians."

The victory bus will travel from the school along Peverell Park Road, Outland Road, Alma Road, Cobourg Street and Charles Street, arriving at the top of Royal Parade at 5.45pm. Plymouth's Games Maker volunteers will then join the cavalcade as it rolls along Princess Way.
