West Park play day
CHILDREN certainly celebrated the theme of a fun day in West Hoe Park.
With the theme of this year's national play day being 'Make Time' For Play, they wholeheartedly jumped at the chance.
-

SOCIAL CLIMBERS: Thomas, eight, and Jessica Short, 10, have a go on the rolling climbing wall

IN A SPIN: Chanel Horswell, seven, has fun with aunt Becky Hill
-

CHILD'S PLAY: Abigail Limpus, 10 months, in the ball pool
Prior to the event parents were urged to press the 'pause' button on their lives to join their children at the Plymouth City Council-organised event.
And countless parents joined in the fun.
The star attraction at the day was a rotating climbing wall provided by the Royal Artillery Rolling Rock Mobile Activity Team.
Children were able to climb hundreds of metres without ever venturing more than a few feet above the ground.
Static climbing walls were also available for children to scale as well as a range of arts and crafts sessions and balloon modelling workshops.
Councillor Grant Monahan, Cabinet member for children and young people, said the emphasis was on getting the whole family along to West Hoe Park to take time out from their busy lives to enjoy themselves together.
The day was organised by the city council's services for children and young people and was supported by the National Lottery, Plymouth Play Association and other community organisations providing services for children and young people.

“The event was infact reported in the Hereld but i have to agree with both the comments above. The area was far to small and the event not publicised well enough. i hope they will do this event next year but at a bigger location - even the promenade would have been better than down by the park!!!!!”

“this was a good day but the area was to small for the amout of people that turned up maybe next year have it at central park as the area is much bigger and there is no rides for children o go on that you would have to pay for like on west hoe.”
