Woman 'critical' after bus collision
A WOMAN injured in an accident involving a bus on Mutley Plain is fighting for her life in hospital, according to police.
Initial reports were that her injuries were not 'life-changing' or 'life-threatening', and eyewitnesses said she was conscious in the immediate aftermath of the accident.

But police have released updated details of her condition following emergency treatment at Derriford Hospital.
A police spokesman said: "She remains in intensive care at Derriford Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
"We are treating this as a serious accident with potentially life-threatening injuries; it is now being investigated by Plympton Traffic Unit.
"Her next of kin has been informed."
The 45-year-old woman was involved in the accident involving a Citybus vehicle near the Fortescue pub on Mutley Plain at 2.30pm on Monday, as reported in The Herald.
Paramedics and police were on the scene within minutes and the woman was taken straight to Derriford's intensive care unit.
Police have now said that as well as severe head injuries, she is understood to have serious abdominal injuries. She has undergone a CT scan and been examined by spinal specialists.
Police have kept the Citybus vehicle out of service for detailed examination, and are looking at CCTV footage in a bid to discover how the horrific accident happened.
Witnesses described seeing the woman 'flying through the air' before landing on the pavement a few feet from the pedestrian crossing near the Fortescue. Bar staff rushed to her aid.
The nearside of the bus windscreen was shattered and one lane of the city-bound carriageway closed for around half an hour by police.
Citybus operations director Tom Piggott said: "We are carrying out our own investigations and helping the authorities.
"The driver was completely unhurt."

“I hope the lady makes a full recovery.
Whilst not knowing what happened and not blaming this bus driver I concur with comments about bus drivers attitudes. I had my inside mirror knocked off by a bus charging up to lights at which i was stationary. they then provided a winess saying it was my fault! (First - not Citybus).
As for the comment about cyclists, yes they can push by but are much less likely to cause the sort of injuries seen in Plymouth lately at crossings.”

“Nice if citybus to show concern for her; 'Carrying out investigations' - more like trying to cover their behinds. No message of thought for her and her family or wishes for a speedy recovery. Just as long as the driver wasn't hurt (which is good but they need to think of more than that). Their handling of this is yet another example of Citybus going way down in my estimation these past 6 months.”

“Lots of comments about the arrogant mindless bus- driving idiots who clog up our roads causing mayhem with their woeful, aggressive, bullying driving. Wonder why there are so many comments highlighting this? The standard of driving is pitiful, and the aggressive attitudes towards other road users is shocking. Remember, your job is to carry passengers safely with due regard to other road users, not to bully other drivers because you happen to be safely behind tons of metal. Best wishes to the lady involved.”

“omg! people need to stop using this comments section to bicker and offend! well wishes go out to hurt lady and driver, My opinion is the driver never set out on a days work with the intention of this happening! accidents happen and do u not think that somethimes, no one is all to blame. thoughts should be sent out not arguments and dbates started!”
