Woman facing jail for performing lewd act on her boyfriend in public
A WOMAN is facing a possible jail term after being found guilty of a lewd act with her boyfriend on Mutley Plain.
A jury of six men and six women took less than two hours to convict Donna Gray unanimously of outraging public decency by committing a lewd, obscene or disgusting act.

Gray, aged 33 and from Waterloo Yard Flats, Stonehouse, had denied the charge, claiming she was only kissing and cuddling boyfriend Steven Potts.
Unbeknown to the jury, Potts, aged 34 and from Maunsell Close, North Prospect, had already pleaded guilty to a similar offence and been jailed for 18 weeks for that and other offences.
Prosecutor Julia Cox had told the jury that around 4pm on Wednesday, August 26 last year, Potts exposed himself on the steps of Mutley Baptist Church and Gray committed a lewd act upon him.
The scene was witnessed from across the road by beautician Nicola Rose, hair salon customer Harriet Bowers and supermarket manager Kenneth Kenny.
All agreed that Potts had exposed himself and it was clear what Gray was doing to him.
Gray testified that she and Potts had eaten a burger and drunk cider on the church steps and then began kissing and cuddling.
She denied that Potts had exposed himself or that she had committed an indecent act.
Judge Ian Leeming QC granted Gray unconditional bail until she is sentenced on June 11, reserved the case to himself and warned her all options — including jail — remain open.

“Blow me, she certainily is going down. Especially after the blow by blow evidence given. I wonder, has the gentleman come forward? A fine would really suck, a prison sentance would be even harder to swallow. I hope it doesn't choke her, financially. I guess it's up to the judge to either spit out a fine, or swallow her into the penal system.”

“Apparently the people in the salon and the Co-op kept watching for more than half an hour before they felt the need to call the police.”
