Woman taken to hospital after crashing car into tree

AN elderly woman was taken to hospital after crashing her car into a tree.

Firefighters and paramedics were called to Flete House, Ermington, near Ivybridge, at around 8.45 yesterday morning.

A woman driver in her 80s is said to have collided with a tree on the private driveway of the house.

Fire crews freed the woman, who was said to be pinned against the steering wheel by her hand, from the vehicle.
