“What people dont realise is that 13 year old "children"these days are not like 13 yr old used to be 20 or 30 yrs ago. They can be quite menacing cheeky & intimidating young men/women. They have no respect for other adults, they swear & spit & dont move out of the way when you are walking towards them. Infact my friend used to live on the estate nearby & moved last year because the youths were so noisy at night & early hours It may be a good idea for more policing in this area. I obviously dont know what happened in this case Im just saying what I know of this area.”

“DevonMal - "Good on her. Children should play on the playing fields, not streets, subways or estates."

And adults should always set a good example? Teach tolerance and understanding, courtesy and good manners, dealing with situations calmly and peacefully, reason and not aggression?

Naaah! Let's just settle for everyday bigotry and prejudice, get the first blow in and be loud and/or verbally abusive - because everyone knows that's the right way to deal with ANY situation!!!!

Who is the victim here? Do those that have turned the blame on the teenager believe that rape victims are 'fair game' because they were 'dressed provocatively'? Or those mugged at night shouldn't have been out at the time?”

“'Devonmal' , the lad was sheltering from the weather at that point !!!...and was previously playing in the local park , maybe she over-reacted ? and I don't know if anyone of sound mind would approach an unknown person adult or child and hit them , unless they looked vulnerable enough not to retaliate , how did the woman know he wasn't going to react and hit back ?? she obviously didn't feel threatened and felt confidant enough to take on the 3 boys whilst she was alone ? just doesn't seem like the behaviour of a sane person , whoever was at fault it's just not what a normal reasonable human being would do ! if she is in her 20's she should know better than to hit a child for something that nearly happened !”

“@aggie77 can't argue with that at all. If it was an accident for which he apologised then this woman needs to be brought to task. Sounds like he got on the wrong end of her bad day.”

“The woman should at least come forward and explain her version of events as I don't think it is ever justifiable to hit someone eases child , you're told not to hit your own kids so how is it ok to hit somgone else's ..I happen to know the lad, he is no thug or would ever act like one, and certainly never been in any kind if trouble ... it was a mistake that happened whilst sheltering in the subway when the hail started , he immediately apologised and admitted to the woman that it was he who kicked the ball as she was entering from the other side , now in my opinion if he was big enough to say sorry and admit his error then she had no real reason to get physical and lash out it's awful behaviour and she needs to be at least spoken to by the authorities incase she isn't in her right mind , it's not the normal behaviour of an average member of the public .How far would she have gone if it actually hit her ??? scary thought in my eyes . If it was my child I would just want to know who and why ?? not many parents would turn a blind eye when their child comes home claiming to have been hurt by an adult ..”
