Patients and visitors can no longer park in the lower E car park, near maternity, or in the upper overflow E parking area.

Temporary public spaces will be provided on the old Sheepstor House site and other car parks in the vicinity. Patients will need to enter the site via the mini-roundabout off Derriford road and take the first right currently signposted Rowans and Staff and Health and Wellbeing.

The new patient car park entrance will be signposted and there will be a pay and display machine.

The only pedestrian access to staff and patient parking in E will be via the main pavement next to the bus lane that exists on the site. All other access to and from E will be securely fenced off.

Vinci will manage the new multistorey car park along with the other car parks at Derriford Hospital and the car parking tariff will be the same across the whole site, the trust said.

“I would like to know when they are going to provide adequate space for the volume of buses stopping at Derriford Hospital, surely it is about time a bus stn was built there too! At peak times ambulances are being held up behind buses trying to pick up passengers, surely this is not a good situation when an emergency call comes in!!!”

“Just amazes me why they did not build one in the first place, forward thinking in this country only seem to be for a maximum of 5 years.”

“Another way for visitors to be ripped off, it has to be paid for somehow. We are all paying 1% extra Nat insurance courtesy of good old Gordon for the NHS and they have to spend it somehow.
When this is finished then the subsidised bus at the George will probably be withdrawn as this car park will lose money. Somewhat hypocritical really”

“I hope they have put in suitable designs to deter people from attempting to jump off it, given that the Glenbourne unit is so close?”
