A WORLD record tree planting attempt will take place in South Brent this weekend.

The event, Tree O'Clock, is part of National Tree Week and a world record attempt will take place around the country to plant the most trees in one hour from 11am-12 midday on Saturday .

Plymouth Guild, Groundwork Devon and Cornwall and BTCV Devon and Cornwall will be bringing their volunteers together at the Moor Trees Burlands site at South Brent in an effort to plant more than 100 trees as their contribution to the record attempt.

World record breakers, Big Beat junk funk band, will also be there. The band hold the official Guinness World Record for creating the biggest junk orchestra ever and afterwards they will conduct a special drumming session with all the volunteers.

Simon De Groot, Plymouth Guild Volunteer Centre Manager, said: "As world leaders meet in Copenhagen for the Climate Summit, we will meet in a muddy field in South Brent to show that with a combination of volunteer power and music, people can plant a new woodland in the time it will take them to sign in".

The event will also form part of the Green V Steering Group being conducted by Plymouth Guild, Groundwork Devon and Cornwall and BTCV Devon and Cornwall, a Vinspired funded project. Green V promotes environmental volunteering for 16-25 year olds where the project itself is steered by the young volunteers themselves.
