GRAHAM DAWE has confirmed that Bath Academy prop Kane Newport has signed for Plymouth Albion as a dual registered player.

The 19-year-old, who has represented England under-18s, played for Albion's development team — Devonport Warriors — on Sunday against Redruth.

Albion are struggling for prop cover at the moment with Martin Rice injured and David Morton in Australia.

By signing as a dual registered player, Newport, who had loan spells with Newbury and Bridgwater last season, will be available for both Bath and Albion.

"It is an open ended arrangement," said Dawe, a former Bath player. "He is only 19 but we would like him to challenge for the first team. " saw him play a little for Bridgwater last year and I thought on Sunday he played very well. He scrummed well and carried strongly. He showed up well."
