Young cooks get off to a frying start
SCHOOL children went flat out to celebrate pancake day – with some taking part in races.
Primary schools across the city organised special events for yesterday's Shrove Tuesday.

And, like previous years, pupils at St Joseph's Primary School in Devonport raced across their school field flipping pancakes as they went.
Other school children at Holy Cross Catholic Primary School in St Judes also enjoyed the day – although some children were clearly not as good at flipping as others.
Lipson Vale Primary School in Lipson also welcomed some special guests to their pancake event in the form of soldiers from 1 Rifles.
Sarah Brown, chairman of the Friends of St Joseph's group, said: "It was an absolutely fantastic event. The children were really amazing and thoroughly enjoyed the race we organised.
"We had all 114 children at the school racing across the school field, some trying to flip pancakes as they went. It was really fun."
