Admirals claim biggest win in six years

Admirals defeated Reading Renegades 28-0 to give them their second win of the 2008 campaign.
The victory is unlikely to put Admirals in contention for a play-off place in South West Conference Division Two.
But delighted head coach Steve Perry nevertheless celebrated his largest winning margin with the city club.
Perry said afterwards: “It was a proud day for the club. We were dominant throughout the game and the scoreline is certainly a true reflection of this.
“If anything we could of, maybe should have, had even more points.”
Admirals recorded 300 yards of offense to Reading's 90. Renegades, faced by a tough-tackling Plymouth defense, never got to within 30 yards of the Admirals' endzone.
Perry added: “The defense did superbly and thoroughly deserve the shutout.
“But it is the offense I am most pleased with. They started strongly, moved the ball consistently, and kept possession for long periods.”
Admirals stunned Reading on their first drive.
After 13 plays covering 74 yards, quarterback Mark Tanner found makeshift tight end Marco Pinder wide open in the endzone for a 6-0 lead.
Running star Nick Copley scored a second touchdown in the second quarter.
Then rookie defensive back Michael Bearman scored his first Admirals points on his 21st birthday.
He intercepted a Reading pass and followed the blocking of his team mates for 33 yards and a crucial score.
This was followed by the first successful conversion of the day to put Plymouth 20-0 up at the half.
Plymouth made sure of the points in the second half when a Nick Pook reception set up Copley for his second score of the day.
Kyle Micallef reeled in the conversion and the final points of the game.
While the Admirals defense continued to frustrate Reading, the offense was unable to add to their unassailable lead.
Quarter and offensive co-ordinator Mark Tanner said afterwards: “Although we're delighted with how it went there are some areas for improvement before the upcoming games.
“We gave away more penalties than we should of and seemed to tire towards the end of the game.
“We need to work on this as we've got tough games coming up, including the three teams challenging for playoffs in our division.
“We will still play a vital part in how the South West pans out this year.”
