Planning permission granted for 23 homes in Cattedown, despite objections
CITY councillors have granted planning permission for a development of 23 homes in Cattedown.
Harbour Avenue Ltd can now build three-bed houses and six apartments on brownfield land to the rear of Queen Anne's Quay, despite objections from residents.
The planning committee was told that 21 letters objecting to the development had been received.
But planning officer Robert Heard said he had no objections to development at the site, and the plans had been commended for the quality of the design, described in his report as "modern and innovative".
The development will be on the site of recently demolished warehouses, centred on a new cul-de-sac.
The committee was told that the development was not likely to create large volumes of traffic.
The houses would have back gardens, positioned next to the gardens of houses surrounding the site, while the apartments would have a communal garden.
Under a provision negotiated by the council, four of the new homes will be used as social housing, with two apartments being sold under a shared ownership scheme and two family homes being used for social rent.
