Schliffke, who earned the name 'Rock-hopper' through his ability to jump across difficult coastal territory with the sureness of a mountain goat, had a superb bass of 10lbs 1oz 8drams to clinch the first prize of £200.
Second place went to Peter Hersey of the promoting club for a fish of 7lbs 0ozs 8drams and third was filled by fellow-clubman Ron Morris with a fish of 6lbs 4ozs.
The entry was 63 and the event was well supported by many of the counties' leading bass anglers.
Yvonne Kitt (pictured below) of Seagalls SAC was the only competitor to bring a fish to the scales during the British Conger Club's Affiliated Clubs' Championship fished over two days at wrecks off Plymouth.
It weighed 56lbs 2ozs and gave her the second day's pool of £105.
A total of 272 eels were caught by the 20 teams representing 10 affiliated clubs – the winners were Guildford A's squad of Michael Doody and Chris Goddard who amassed 1,120 lbs-points.
The skippers prize for the best aggregate over the two days went to Shaun Brett of Size Matters.
Last weekend's fine weather guaranteed a first class result in the 30th National Small Boat Angling Championships based on Salcombe.
Sponsorship provided a prize list worth more than £3,000 and in addition, the winner received a Wild Card Entry into the National Boat League Final which has a boat, engine, trailer and accessories worth in excess of £15,000 as the first prize.
It will be fished for by Mark Barnett of Chillington, a member of Kingsbridge and District SAC, who produced a 208 per cent aggregate made up of a 12lb 11oz bull huss and a 11lb 4oz small-eyed ray to lift the Championship and the first prize of a four horsepower outboard motor.
The calm conditions allowed the outer estuary's blonde ray marks to be fished with a high level of success.
Kevin Tapper of Teignmouth SAS had the heaviest of 23lbs 5 ozs and this paired with a 14ozs cuckoo wrasse provided 190.80 per cent giving him the runner-up prize of a Lowrance Global Map GPS.
Peter Collins of Dartmouth SAS filled third spot winning a colour fish finder for a grey mullet and wrasse combination that scored 190.60 per cent. Both of his fish weighed 4lbs 9ozs.
Small-eyed ray were recorded by other competitors and a very fine specimen of 12lbs 11ozs by Helen Bradford of Kingsbridge SAC gave her fourth place.
By virtue of the one-fish/one-prize rule, Jimmy Bond of Horrabridge was judged to have the Best Ray and won the prize with a blonde or 19lbs 6ozs.
The leading junior was Michael Tapper 13, of the Teignmouth Club who had a trigger fish of 2lbs 7ozs and with his father Kevin was second in the team section, the pair scoring 200.80 per cent.
The entry was 115 from many parts of England and Wales who fished from 42 boats.
A minute silence was observed for Bill Hern, one of the event's founders who passed away earlier this year.
The championship has often been plagued by bad weather and this result is one of the best in the last decade.
