Two arrests as border officers raid restaurant in Plymouth
TWO Chinese illegal workers have been arrested by immigration officers following a raid at a Plympton takeaway.
The men were arrested by UK Border Agency officers at the Peking House takeaway in Westfield, at around 7.30pm yesterday.
Agency officers also carried out a search of a property in King Street, Stonehouse, following the arrests.
It is understood one of the men, aged 41, may have been in the country since 2002 as an illegal while the second man, aged 40, had overstayed his visa since Sept 2006.

Richard Taylor from the UK border agency said: "This was an intelligence-led raid and if these men are confirmed illegal workers we will look to remove them from the UK."
He added that employers can face a fine of up to £20,000 if they are unable to prove that they carried out the correct right-to-work checks.

“Josdave is correct. The originally quote was "The employers could now face a fine of up to £20,000 if they are unable to prove that they carried out the correct right-to-work checks on the pair"
As josdave notes, the fine can be up to £10,000 per worker.”

Should not be CAN face fines of £10,000 per illegal worker but WILL face those fines. These irresponsible employers apart from exploiting illegal workers are denying jobs to people entitled to be in this country.”
