Dick and his cat leave you feline festive

Monday, November 17, 2008, 16:41

THIS week Touchwood Musical Company perform the tenth pantomime in their 12-year history.

Dick Whittington and His Cat, is one of three of our top pantos based not on fairy tales and folklore but on real people and events in English history.

There really was a Dick; he really married Alice Fitzwaryn, and he really did become London's Lord Mayor three times.

For the production directors Janet Pannell and David Bailey take a step away from tradition and have a man, Luke Seidel-Haas in the role of Dick. This of course adds a frisson to the romance side of the plot, in which Steph Snooks plays Alice.

With David Bailey climbing into Dame's drag for the first time as Sarah the cook, the cast contains a mix of regular and new members. These include Len Turner as Alderman Fitzwarren, Stuart Allen as Jack, Duncan Ketley as King Rat, Vicky Courtis as Fair Bowbells, Ted Ford as the Sultan of Morocco, and Heather Foulkes as Tommy the cat.

Musical director is Laura Hunt, and choreography is shared by Rachael Wall, Vicky Courtis and Linda Greene.

Performances run at the Globe Theatre, Stonehouse, at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday 19 to 22 November, with matinees on Saturday at 2.30pm and Sunday 23 November at 3pm.

Tickets cost £8, with concessions, and may be booked by calling Trish Small on 07999 639888.
