College kids on track with winning run

The college, who hosted the qualifying event, are on the way to a shoot-out with other pupils from the region next month after recording a set of top results in the English Schools Cross Country Cup.
Qualification from the South-West showdown would put Ivybridge in line for a tilt at a national title at the UK finals in Leicestershire.
College athletics supremo Kirk Salmon said afterwards that he was delighted with the performance of the Ivybridge youngsters.
Ivybridge qualified for the South-West final thanks to some sparkling performances from their athletes.
Pride of place went to Carie Robertson-Bell, who scorched to victory in the junior girls' 2,000 metre race in a time of seven minutes, eight seconds– a full 12 seconds ahead of rival Melissa Keveran, from Truro.
Ivybridge junior girls' team finished seventh, however.
The intermediate girls' team finished second, with Jess Harvey – younger sister of international runner Jo – recording a second place in the 2,600-metre race.
Bradley Edwards, in just his second race, helped the Ivybridge junior boys finish first in their 2,600-metre event.
Edwards grabbed a third place, with colleague Pete Morgridge in fifth.
Ivybridge were sixth in the intermediate boys' 3,900-metre event.
Best finishes went to James Smith, who was 10th and Piers Thomson, just behind him.
Salmon said: "It was a tough competition, because there were some very good runners out there.
"There was a mixture of people who had run before and people who have just come through.
"Bradley Edwards, who normally plays football, did particularly well in only his second race."
Ivybridge will be facing athletes from Cornwall, Devon, Avon, Dorset and Berkshire at Sherborne on November 8.
