The Ivybridge-based outfit narrowly missed out on claiming the National Club of the Year award after reaching the final three in a ceremony in Birmingham.
However, Harriers became the first athletics club in the South West to be awarded the prestigious Clubmark distinction.
Clubmark is awarded across all sports and ensures clubs are run to nationally-agreed guidelines.
Formed in September 1983, Erme Valley attract members from Ivybridge, Plymouth and the South Hams areas.
Among their many activities, the club provide coaching for athletes and the opportunity to compete in a range of athletics pursuits – including road running, cross country, track and field and sportshall.
Events include summer and winter handicap races, a grand prix series and a new 'off road' summer handicap series across south Dartmoor, called the Spirit of the Moor.
They also organise the Ivybridge 10k in May, the Erme Valley relay race in July and the Ivybridge Beacon Challenge in September, and, most recently, an open cross-country relay at Holbeton.
Harriers are equally active away from competition, sending club representatives to England Athletics' South West Region Council and the Devon County AA committee.
Erme Valley have also forged strong links with Ivybridge Community College, jointly hosting a beginners' running session at the school on Wednesdays between 5.30pm-6.30pm.
The session is free of charge and open to wannabe runners of all ages and abilities.
The seniors meet at Ivybridge Leisure Centre every Tuesday and Friday at 6pm, while the juniors' session is on Thursdays at 6pm, at the college
