Youngsters shine at sportshall showpiece

This year's competition was split into three sections.
The winners of the first keenly-fought under-13s category, which had a record 11 entries from Plymouth secondary schools, was a combined boys and girls team from Devonport High School.
All the athletes took part in one track and one field event, and this year's competition proved to be the closest yet.
The outcome of the category came down to the relays, with Eggbuckland College leading DHS by two points.
But with relays carrying a double point bonus it was DHS who ended up victors.
The final top three scores were Devonport High School first on 138 points with in second Eggbuckland College on 132 points followed by Sir John Hunt College on 119 points.
The next category to be decided was U15 – also claimed by the combined DHS team with 159 points.
Their nearest rivals were a combined St Boniface and Notre Dame team (141 points) who took silver closely followed by Eggbuckland College (135).
The final session of the day was taken up by our academic council-winning primary schools who had already taken part in heats around the city throughout September.
This, too, proved to be highly competitive.
It was Montpelier Primary who took the spoils after winning both relays and pulling away from second-placed Hyde Park.
The event was organised and run by Plymouth community sports coach Lance Chatfield and supported by Sir John Hunt School Sports Partnership, Plymstock Road Runners, City College Plymouth students and sponsored by the Armada athletics forum and Frank Elford Sports.
More than 700 youngsters from years four to 10 took part in the heats and finals, and many were encouraged to join local clubs.
