TOP prizes and the chance to mingle with celebrities are just two of the attractions at an upcoming charity ball.

Comedian Jennifer Saunders has already promised to attend the November 21 event, which is in aid of the CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) charity.

CHICKS provides around 800 respite breaks every year for disadvantaged youngsters, including at its retreat in Brentor, near Tavistock.

The black tie winter ball has now been given an extra boost after organisers announced the top auction prize – lifetime family membership to the region's Crealy Great Adventure Parks, worth £1,600.

There will also be a raffle, music from the Soul Agents and a Las Vegas-style casino for those feeling lucky.

Guests will also get a three-course meal and goodie bag at the Formedia-sponsored ball, which will run from 7.30pm to midnight at Plymouth's Holiday Inn.
