WHAT made you go into this type of business? I've always been interested in Aromatherapy and the uses of essential oils as my youngest son was often ill with asthma, and other aliments. I used essential oils to help and have always had a bottle of lavender in the house to help with grazes and burns. After I finished a degree in applied arts I decided to join a course to learn more about it.
Do you needs qualifications or special equipment?
Yes, I have a diploma in Anatomy and Physiology, Massage, Aromatherapy, Aromatherapy Massage, and Reiki II. (As well as making the products I also organise pampering evenings and have a therapy room for treatments).
I am a licensed member of the BCMA (British Complementary Medicine Association), and am enrolled on the PRHT (The Practitioners Register For Holistic Therapies).
For making the products everything has to be kept very clean/sterile. I keep all the making equipment packed away in dust proof boxes when not in use, the same with the jars, and I need accurate scales for weighing everything. I also wear a head covering and apron when working.
How long did it take from idea to opening?
Once I had finished my course about six months.
What type of products do you offer?
Bubble baths, shower gels, shampoo, soaps, bath bombs, hand cream, face creams, luxury body lotions, massage/bath oils and lip balm. All SLS and paraben free.

Enjoyment of the job.

Conscientious, caring, professional.
How do you relax outside work?
Reading a book in the bath with some patchouli and ylang ylang bubble bath in it and afterwards some luxury body lotion with the same oils.
Where will you be in five years time?
Selling in more shops all over the country.
Your tips for success?
Be motivated, set yourself realistic goals, never give up!
What's your one essential item in your make-up bag?
My own dry/mature face cream.
What do you consider to be your greatest achievement to date?
Having my three children.
What do you like in particular about your line of work?
Helping other people to feel relaxed and pampered. Being able to work hours that suit my family.
What is the best piece of advice you've been given?
Take each day at a time.

Christine Star, my tutor from Westarschool for holistic therapies.
What is most important to you in life?
To be happy, to make others happy.
What's your definition of happiness?
Seeing my products help people.
If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone, who would it be?
An escapologist!
How environmentally friendly are you?
I like to keep my carbon footprint as small as possible, also helping others to do the same – all the bottles and jars I use are recyclable.
Alex from Star Mountain is helping with this by allowing people to bring back their bottle to the shop so I can recycle them.
What's the most expensive thing you've bought, not including property?
My Citroen C1, considered to be one of the 'greenest' cars around.
What item could you not live without?
My essential oils.
Where are you going on holiday this year?
Brixham, Devon.
What's next for you?
Hopefully for my business to grow.
