BOWLS ROUND-UP

Both of last week's big games were played in atrocious conditions, which have blighted much of the season.
True to form the unpredictability of results continued to the very end.
In Division One CSBC crashed to neighbours City Bus 119-96 at Milehouse – which kept City Bus up but relegated Beacon Down.
The match was decided in the first quarter when City Bus raced into a commanding 24 shot lead and never looked like letting it slip.
Beacon Down may feel aggrieved CSBC could not put up a better performance, but under different circumstances the game would have been cancelled.
Beacon Down will no doubt reflect that they were the architects of their own downfall.
Two excellent victories at the back end of the season gave them hope, but it was too little too late and a team who have many good players find themselves playing in Division Two next season – but I am confident it will be for only one year.
Across the way at Central Park another big game was taking place.
Peverell Park entertained Tothill for the second promotion spot in Division Three, and Peverell eventually won a close game 117-108.
Again it was a credit to both teams that the match was played. Promotion was a great triumph for Peverell who have struggled in recent years – and hopefully there are better times ahead for this friendly club. For Tothill they was close – but, who knows, maybe next year.
One other game was played in Division Two.
Plympton entertained Ivybridge but with the scores level at 53-53 the game was abandoned after an injury to one player who was taken to hospital.
PP OLYMPIC, relegated from Division Two this season, are desperately in need of new players.
Due to work commitments and players retiring, the club find themselves struggling and are inviting players with experience, or novices who fancy taking up the game to join.
Youngsters are also invited.
CSBC duo John Neale and Peter Kneebone were Plymouth's only county competition winners this season.
They clinched the Unbadged County Pairs title. It was a superb triumph for Neale and Kneebone who have just completed their first season at CSBC after joining from CSSA, who folded last season after the collapse of the Civil Service Sports and Social Club.
The pair had to come through the Plymouth area qualifying group before playing competitors from the rest of the county, eventually winning the final at South Molton.
