City boxer Shergold secures first pro victory

City-based Shergold, fighting out of the newly-re-named Carl's Boxing Stable, dominated the four rounds super-featherweight bout from start to finish, said coach Carl Robson.
"Kristine was too fast for Cooper and won every round," said Robson.
"She already had a decision over Cooper, whom she beat when both were amateurs about three or four years ago.
"She put into practice everything we've worked on in training and she was just too busy for her opponent.
"I've insisted that instead of planting her feet square on the canvas looking to score with heavy shots, as a lot of professional trainers prefer, I've told Kristine to opt for a high-tempo, high work-rate stint in each round.
"And it worked a treat up in Swindon."
Shergold, who made her professional bow earlier this year, has balanced her record to 1-1.
The 27-year-old opened her account with a four-round defeat to Laura Saperstein at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on Friday, April 18.
The high-profile Saperstein is unbeaten in six outings and has since gone on to win her subsequent three contests in Thailand.
Shergold is next in action at a less glamorous venue in Derby on Sunday, November 16, against an opponent who is yet to be named.
Meanwhile, there were mixed results for two of Robson's amateurs, Pete Falk and Nathan Walton, at the weekend.
Falk, who came into the three rounder at 66kgs, improved his unbeaten start to his amateur career with a unanimous points win over Brett Cobb in Exeter on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Falk, who had followed up his recent debut victory, a stoppage over Barry O'Neill, has now been entered by Robson into this season's Novice Championships.
But there was disappointment for Carl's Boxing Stable's Nathan Walton, who was stopped in the second of his scheduled three round heavyweight bout by Bedford's K Quint, on a Milton Keynes' show.
Meanwhile, another of the gym's youngsters, Oliver Luke, 14, (64kgs), is in action in the Southern Counties finals at Wells this weekend.
