Special event will celebrate city regeneration

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 17:31

THE Plymouth Economic Development Group and English Cities Fund will celebrate ECf's role as a long-term regeneration partner for Plymouth with local MPs and leading private sector organisations today.

ECf, who as lead developer for Millbay is responsible for the single biggest regeneration project in Plymouth, is the host for the Plymouth Business Community Dinner for Parliamentarians 2008, being held at Stonehouse Barracks.

The event will also celebrate the establishment of the Plymouth CDC as the organisation which will lead Plymouth's economic and physical regeneration – and there will be a special 'thank you' to MPs Colin Breed, Linda Gilroy, Gary Streeter and Alison Seabeck together with The Rt Hon Lord Owen and The Baroness Wilcox of Plymouth for their work on behalf of the city.

Charles Howeson, chairman of the PEDG, said: "This annual flagship occasion celebrates the strong and coherent leadership which we have developed in our city between the sectors and across the party political divide with the public sector and Plymouth's business community all speaking with one clear voice.

"Plymouth is fortunate in ECf to have a long-term partner in its future. As well as leading the regeneration of Millbay, ECf's advice and expertise is greatly valued in the city, as is their support for the wider promotion of Plymouth internationally and indeed for this important evening."
