“Give the car infront 50 Yrds 100 if its some git in a hurry, on the phone, or fixing their makeup. It is a bad junction cos of the angle of the slip road and the wall.

“GreenGom. 2 things funny here, the amount of negative ratings youve got, and the fact thousands use this 'short' slip road weekly but only a few manage to crash. ITS NOT THE ROAD, ITS THE DRIVERS. Combination of timing, observation and right gear selection makes joining the A38 at Manadon simple, even in a slow accelerating vehicle such as the one i drive.”

“@timplymouth - i use that slip road a few times a week, only yesterday in fact, and thought again to myself why don't they extend it they have the room, its just grass there - it probably comes down to the fact that not enough accidents there, but plenty of near misses from what i hear and see.”

“Someone should start a campaign to get the eastbound sliproad at manadon extended. There just isn't enough time to merge properly given the concrete wall in the way. From the aerial photo there is room to extend it. Anyone want to volunteer?”

“I'm a well travelled person and I would say that UK drivers are amongst the best in any country I have driven in. Accidents like this are common place in thick fog and unfortunately inevitable from time to time. Try driving in fog in the Middle East. They drive at the same high speed as normal but put their hazard lights on to identify themselves as a hazard, much to the annoyance of decent motorists. The problem tends to be that you don't know when they are turning off, hence the 110 Car pile up and the 20 people who died in Abu Dhabi recently thanks to someone doing just that.”

“The problem, aside the lack of use of headlights, is, people think they have divine right to enter a dual carriage way or motorway just by virtue of indicating. This is not so. The broken lines of the slip road to carriage way mean give way to traffic on the right who have precedence. There is no rule or law that says drivers on the carriage way must move to an outer lane, this action is purely courteous. With this, drivers entering a carraige way more often than not do not take to account the outside lane being occupied thus preventing the car holding the inside lane from moving out. So, at the sliproad junction to carraige way GIVE WAY”

“Thi slip road must be the shortest ever built in the history of motorway construction. How on earth can anyone get up to 60mph when the length is so short and the view is blocked by a dirty great concrete wall so that you can't get a view of what is coming up the carriageway until about two seconds before you have to join the A38. The idiot who designed this junction 30 years ago should hang his head in shame, a two year old could have done better, can the Herald name and shame him? it should be immediately be redesigned and rebuilt with a longer sliip road. It was only a few years ago that a 14 year old girl died in exactly the same kind of accident. Plymouth police and councillors should be the first to take action on this and persuade the authorities in charge of our roads to change the layout.”

“i like how some people mark down my coment so they must think its ok to just grind to a halt on a 60-70mph limit road and not use the slip road for what it is meant for and thats adjusting speed from one road to another, must be the numpties that crawl right to the end of a slip road and then just pull out at 10 mph causing everyone to slam on the brakes or dive into outside lane...”
