Why close it?
I HAVE followed M B Hill's frequent letters for a considerable time and agree with most of the suggestions he has made.
I am disappointed he does not get more feedback from other readers. This is their opportunity, especially prior to elections, to let their opinions be known and how they would like to see Plymouth develop. I would draw attention to the recent letter from him about The Palace in Union Street, which I feel is a disgrace to Plymouth. Though listed, I believe something must be done and preferably before the Olympics in 2012. His idea for the Atheneum is excellent, but I would go one step further and suggest it could be used for dance classes, martial arts, indoor bowls, belly dancing, boxing and kickboxing, very
much like Plymouth Albion's Leisure Centre. An extra venue for small meetings in central Plymouth would be an asset. Also, I don't know of any other car park in Plymouth that discriminates against the disabled and handicapped, except, as Mr Hill said in a previous letter, the one on the Hoe, which is closed at 4pm every day. Why? With summer approaching I think it is time this was extended at least until 8pm. Many times the weather improves in the afternoons in Plymouth and then people can get out and enjoy the scenery and fresh air, until 4pm. They then have to go home or find a different parking space. Come on, Plymouth City Council, take notice of your residents and voters.
