Fireworks show gets go-ahead

Friday, November 21, 2008, 15:25

SECTA, the South East Cornwall Tourism Association, has welcomed an announcement that the New Year's Eve fireworks display on the town's Banjo Pier in Looe will go ahead.

SECTA members, who raised £600 towards the cost of the display, have thanked Looe Town Council for all the work done to make sure the event will take place.

Spokesman Jan Sroczynski said: "The New Year celebrations in Looe have placed Looe in the top three places to be for New Year; this attracts visitors every year, which is a boost for Looe in the winter months.

"It is also an important community event, and we hope this year's will be the best ever."
