Warning after spate of thefts from vehicles

Friday, November 21, 2008, 07:00

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after goods were stolen from vehicles in New Road and Newport Street, Millbrook.

The windows of both cars were smashed and the items, which were on view, a DVD player and IPod, were taken overnight on November 11/12.

Please call 08452 777 444 and quote crime reference number BT 08 847 if you have any information. Following these incidents, Pc Pat Libby, neighbourhood beat manager of Torpoint, urged the public not to leave property, including satnavs, in vehicles. He advises that anything of value is removed and the glove compartment emptied with the compartment door left open. Pc Libby said evidence is sometimes lost when owners clear the scene. It would be advisable to preserve the scene by securing a bin liner over broken windows until the police, who try to respond to incidents within 24 hours, attend.
