Fort bid to beat drop at Exeter CS

Friday, August 29, 2008, 10:00

WOODLAND Fort will be without Richie Worth and Will Sykes as the visitors chase the five points needed to guarantee they beat the drop at Exeter Civil Service tomorrow (2pm).

Chris Bowes and Paul Rowe come in to replace the experienced duo for the season-ending fixture at Foxhayes.

Fort, who have not enjoyed the best of fortune this year, did their cause a power of good last time out with a 92-run victory over Lustleigh.

Sykes top-scored for Fort, who posted 164-9, and then Jamie Reynolds took five for 17 to shatter Lustleigh's reply.

The 18-point haul has edged Fort away from the relegation places and batsman Luke Dennis insists a further five more tomorrow would end all further worries.

He said: "What a result last week – after being put in we batted well and then Jamie Reynolds blew them away.

"We go to Exeter tomorrow needing five points and I fully expect us to get them at the very least.

"After the season we have had in terms of luck it would be a massive achievement to stay up.

"Maybe with just a little luck it could have been a different story, because we are the only side not to play bottom club Cullompton, and we have had the most rain-offs."

Woodland Fort: R Stone (capt), L Dennis, M Humphries, M Mackay, P Rowe, A Ivey, M Burnett, J Reynolds, M Draper, C Bowes, G Blake.

CHAMPIONS Yelverton round off their successful campaign at Lustleigh, while Whitchurch entertain Countess Wear.
