Somerset draw Kent in Friends Provident Trophy
Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 10:00
The Cidermen have been pitted against four teams with good track records in the one-day game. Kent were losing finalists in the 2008 Friends Provident Trophy as well as this summer's Twenty20 Cup, where they lost out to Middlesex in the final, while Warwickshire over the years have always been a bogey team for Somerset.
It doesn't stop there because the last time Somerset played Scotland they were beaten, and director of cricket Brian Rose made said: "We face some strong sides and as for Scotland, he last time that we played them in 2005 we lost at Taunton, after beating the Australians two days earlier.
"With the sort of people we have got in our side we know that we underachieved in 2008 and we have to work on our one-day game and we will be addressing that over the winter."
Group A: Ireland, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire and Leicestershire.
Group B: Scotland, Warwickshire, Kent, Somerset and Middlesex.
Group C: Surrey, Durham, Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and Sussex.
Group D: Essex, Glamorgan, Lancashire, Derbyshire and Northamptonshire.
