Four cut free and taken to hospital after head-on crash in Plymouth
FOUR people had to be cut from the wreckage of their car and taken to hospital following a head-on crash.
The quartet, two men and two women, were travelling in a Citroen Saxo when it was in collision with a Volkswagen Golf on the A379 between Yealmpton and Modbury, near the Ermington turn off.

Firefighters from Plymstock and Ivybridge had to cut the roof from the Saxo to get at the casualties. Two of the car's occupants were said to have suffered more serious injuries than the other two.
The driver of the Golf, a man in his 20s or 30s, was unhurt.

The collision happened at about 7.40pm on New Year's Eve.
"We had to remove the Saxo's roof," said watch manager Simon Wilson, at Ivybridge fire station.
"It took about 15 to 20 minutes.
"One lady, in the front, was removed quite quickly. Two were more injured than the other two."
He added: "It happened in quite an open road, the junction where you can turn from Ermington, a single carriageway."
A South West Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed that four people had been taken to Derriford Hospital.
